Start with what the site is telling us.
Groundworks establish the load-bearing and drainage conditions for everything built above. We approach excavation and preparation methodically, taking account of access, spoil removal, existing services, formation levels and the intended finished structure.
Before excavation begins, the working plan must account for machine access, deliveries, spoil movement, neighbouring boundaries and visible or known services. Finished levels are worked backwards into formation and excavation levels.
This preparation prevents avoidable handling, protects the programme and gives the work above a properly considered starting point.

Is groundworks suitable for my property?+
Suitability depends on access, levels, ground conditions, drainage, intended loading and the finish you want. We assess these points during a site visit before recommending a specification.
What preparation is included for groundworks?+
The quotation can include excavation, spoil removal, sub-base construction, compaction, edge restraints, drainage and the final installation. The exact depth and build-up must reflect the site rather than a one-size-fits-all figure.
How do you check for underground services before excavation?+
Available service information, visible covers, property knowledge and suitable detection or survey methods should be considered before digging. Service records are not always exact, so excavation near suspected routes requires an appropriate cautious method.
What happens to excavated soil and rubble?+
The quotation identifies expected spoil handling. Suitable material may sometimes be retained for an agreed use, while unsuitable or surplus material is loaded and taken to an appropriate facility. Access and volume affect the removal method and programme.
How long will the work take?+
Duration depends on area, access, excavation, weather, curing requirements and any drainage or groundwork. We outline the likely sequence when quoting and keep you informed if site conditions affect it.
Can you deal with drainage as part of the job?+
Yes. Falls, channels, gullies, permeable construction and soakaway measures can be considered as part of the overall design, subject to site conditions and suitable discharge arrangements.
